Kastela is a unique chain of seven historic settlements stretching along the coast between Split and Trogir. Each of these seven towns grew up around its own kaštel fortress, built here in the age of the Ottoman threat by nobility and the Church to defend the population and their property – and it is from these fortresses that the whole region takes its name. Kastela is lined with a long coastline dotted with beaches, suitable for both a family holiday and quiet swimming. Right here, in the vineyards of Kastela, lie the roots of the Crljenak grape variety, the ancestor of the famous Californian Zinfandel. A major advantage is that Kastela is also home to Split Airport, making arrival for your holiday exceptionally practical and quick. From here it is only about 10 km to both Split and Trogir, putting the historic centres, sights and lively nightlife of both cities within easy reach, while you still enjoy the calmer, family-friendly atmosphere of the coast. We offer a wide range of apartments and private accommodation directly from the owners, with no commission. Weather in Kastela
