Island of Brac

Brač is the largest island in Dalmatia and one of the most visited islands in the Adriatic, easily reached by ferry from nearby Split after just a short crossing. The island's most famous spot is Zlatni Rat beach near the town of Bol – a unique tongue-shaped beach that changes shape depending on the wind and sea current, and one of the most photographed places on the entire Adriatic. Brač is also renowned for its white Brač stone, used to build Diocletian's Palace in Split, and part of which was even used in the construction of the White House in Washington. Towering over the island is Vidova Gora, standing 778 metres tall, the highest island peak in the whole Adriatic, offering a stunning view of Zlatni Rat and the neighbouring island of Hvar. The island is covered in vineyards and olive groves, and the area around Bol is a beloved paradise for windsurfing thanks to its steady winds.
